My name is Dorothy, and welcome to my site! This site is intended to be a portfolio for the course “ENGL 21007 – Writing for Engineering”.
The site features the major assignments that were created throughout the semester. These major assignments are:
- Technical Description:
- An assignment in which we choose a simple object and describe its use and components
- In my Technical Description, I had chosen to write about the uses of Virtual Reality Headsets and its various components.
- Memo:
- A team project where we identify an issue within NYC’s infrastructure that could be improved upon. In this assignment we discuss and describe the problems in the chosen infrastructure, creating a recommendation at the end on how to possibly solve this issue.
- My team decided to work on creating a memo about building an extension to LIRR platforms as a means to avoid overcrowding.
- Lab Report:
- A report in which we present scientific or engineering research that addresses a topic and its issues.
- For this report, I decided to talk about the effects remote learning has on human behavior
- Engineering Proposal:
- This assignment is where we create a proposal for an engineering innovation. We identify a specific engineering innovation and apply it to an issue that is occurring in NYC.
- In my proposal, I wrote about possibly creating a storm surge barrier in the coastal areas of NYC. By doing this, it helps lessen the damage from strong hurricanes and increasing tide levels.
- Journal Entries:
- These entries are thoughts and reflections I have had throughout the semester.
- Contains 8 journal entries
- Self-Assessment:
- Goes over my thoughts of what writing means to me and addressing the different learning objectives that I learned/experienced throughout the semester.
